Persian-language anatomy textbook of the Austrian physician Jakob Eduard Polak (1818–91), who played a major role in establishing modern Western medicine in Iran. Polak was hired to teach medicine and surgery at Dār al-fonun in Tehran, the first modern higher education institution in Iran, and taught there from 1851 to 1860. This work, the first modern anatomy textbook in Iran, was translated into Persian by his student Mirza Mohammed-Hossein Afshar and first published in 1852.
